Paleo Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Hazelnut Frosting

My birthday was in April and I really wanted to have a cake.  I was so new to paleo and I hadn't made any cakes yet.  I was nervous to make my own from scratch so I ordered a paleo cake mix.  The cake turned out okay, but it wasn't your typical chocolate cake.  It was really heavy and so rich.  Since then, I have created many different cakes and coffee cakes that are delicious.    My Paleo Pineapple Upside Down Cake is very moist and perfectly sweet.  Last weekend, I decided to try my hand at chocolate cake.  The end result was so moist and the frosting was perfect!  According to my husband, it is his favorite cake I've made so far.  What is your favorite cake flavor?!  Leave a comment and I'll work on the recipe!

  1. This looks totally awesome! I can't believe that you got the frosting to turn out like that - and without any sugar. I'm trying to iron out a gf key lime pie now, but I don't think I'll be able to do it with stevia so I'm going to try honey.

    1. Thank you for your sweet comment Natalia! The frosting turned out really well. It has a great texture! The only sugar added is from the enjoy life chocolate chips (and if you want sugar free, just use cocoa powder instead of melted chocolate chips and add a little more coconut oil and stevia.) Let me know how your gf key lime pie turns out! It sounds like it will be good! If honey doesn't work, maybe try using coconut palm sugar. :)

  3. This post is so bad for my Whole30. Lol! Hazelnut and chocolate are one of my favorite combinations. Wish I can just make one of these after the Whole30, maybe a mug cake? Hmmm... :)
